This job took me the longest time to find. I
received many rejections and felt demoralized to the point that I almost gave
up.
One of the many rejections...
After about 3 weeks, one of the tour guides,
David, replied me! I was so happy that he was willing to give me the
opportunity to be involved in a half-day tour at Universal Studios Singapore.
What did I do?
I was the tour guide’s assistant and I talked
to the Indian tourists. I shared with them about the places they should not
miss in Singapore! Through casual conversations with them, I also learnt
interesting facts about their homeland and culture. Lastly, I helped to do head-counts
as the tourists got on and off the bus.
During my work attachment, one of the tourists reported 30 minutes late. This caused everyone to wait and the schedule to be delayed. From this, I learnt that punctuality is a very important factor for both tourists and tour guide in order to make the trip enjoyable for everybody.
