Week 4: Clown Magician Assistant
6th September 2014
Company: JNR Entertainment
I emailed various entertainment companies hoping
to have a day experience as a Clown.
After multiple emails, JNR Entertainment
replied. The boss, Robin, accepted my request! I was overjoyed!
I was really excited to be a Clown! However,
due to unforeseen circumstances I was attached to a Magician instead.
Nonetheless I enjoyed assisting the Magician. We had 4 events that day, ranging
from home parties to mass events (as shown in the images below).
What did I do?
The 4 events that we had were rather repetitive,
so I was able to familiarize myself with the equipment quite quickly. I was
given an Alice-in-the-wonderland outfit to change into to suit the event.
I assisted the Magician by passing him what
was needed during the performances. I helped control the crowd, especially the
excited children. I also helped to do simple balloon twisting as I learnt to do
so when I was younger. ;)
Alice in the Wonderland outfit!
The very first event of the day.
An arrow and bow!
Dragon balloon!
A gun for the Captain America!
Awww... A little pink horse!
Spider girl and her doll! ;)
Little Batgirl and I! Isn’t she adorable? ^^
2nd event of the day.
Sweet girl :)
Little boy flaunting his new weapon!
3rd event of the day.
Magician in action!
A very spontaneous member of the audience.
Last event of the day, also the largest crowd!
Look at all the smiling faces :)
The magician and I :)
Though my role was mainly to assist the
Magician, and not much performing, I still felt exhausted at the end of the day.
We could not make mistakes hence we needed to really be familiar with
everything. For event-based jobs, I realised that every minute counts. We needed
to be on time for every event, and make sure all equipment were well set up
before commencing. This was definitely not as easy as I had thought. However,
during the performances, I enjoyed looking at the smiles planted on each and
every child. They brightened up my day!
To end off my day, I texted the Boss to thank
him for kindly letting me to work that day! J
