Week 5: Florist
Week 5: Florist
21st September 2014
Company: Sing See Soon Floral & Landscape Pte Ltd

My initial impression of what this job entailed was that I would spend most of my time arranging flowers in the store. Upon reaching the company in the morning, I realised that the company also caters to events such as weddings. I was attached to a senior and we went to several hotels to arrange flowers, among many other preparations for the events. It was undoubtedly a tiring but fun experience!

What did I do?
I have to admit that this job was physically exhausting as we had to rush to different places to set up the flowers before the events started. From 9am to 9pm, I helped with sorting rose petals, setting up tables and chairs for an outdoor wedding ceremony, loading and unloading items, and placing candles and gifts on the tables. We were so busy that we did not have time for meals!

They are located at Pungol.

Their warehouse.

We talked about our lives. J

I love the wind and sun at the back of the lorry.

Beautifully decorated flowers.

Helped to tie ribbons on all the chairs to match the theme.

And added a few roses too!

Manually removed petal from the roses.

White roses.

Marina Bay Sands loading bay.

W Hotel in Sentosa Cove.

Unloading the flowers for the next set up.

Pretty pretty roses.

Perfectly decorated table.

We were arranging flowers for each guest table.

Unwanted roses and stems.

On the way back to the lorry.

For the newly weds.

A few days later, the Lady Boss called me to ask if I was available to work another day. Unfortunately I had to turn her down politely as I needed to study for Midterms. But I definitely want to help out again when time permits. J
